    About the role

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, enabling organizations to increase developer productivity, improve operational efficiency, and reduce security risks. More than 50 million registered users and over 50% of the Fortune 100 trust GitLab to ship secure software faster.

As a Staff Renewals Operations Manager, you will help own the operational engine that makes renewals predictable, measurable, and efficient at scale. Reporting to the Director of CX Operations, you will be the Renewals team's go-to business partner for processes, tooling, forecasting, and insights.

This is a senior individual contributor role that leads through ownership and influence. You will turn ambiguous problems into clear next steps and drive improvements that the entire revenue organization depends on in an all-remote, values-driven environment.

    What you'll do

    • Own and improve the end-to-end renewal operating model from identification through to close and post-renewal data hygiene.
    • Develop and improve operating cadences that guide the renewal business with a focus on process improvement.
    • Define, maintain, and evolve retention reporting including gross/net retention and churn/downgrade analysis.
    • Partner with Revenue Technology, Analytics, and Finance to improve Salesforce and systems supporting CRM, billing, and reporting.
    • Simplify and scale the renewal motion through automation, standardized workflows, alerts, and playbooks.
    • Support renewals planning and capacity management, including segmentation, coverage models, and target setting.
    • Own the Renewal Operations case-management program for intake, triage, and resolution of operational requests.
    • Document processes and mentor others on the renewal motion to raise operating standards.

    What they're looking for

    • Experience in Renewals Operations, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or management consulting.
    • Hands-on experience with both consumption and subscription renewal motions and forecasting.
    • Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills to break down ambiguous problems.
    • High proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with the ability to build and validate models from scratch.
    • Systems thinking experience using Salesforce for pipeline and renewals reporting.
    • Understanding of renewal complexity, including co-terming, amendments, expansions, and multiyear agreements.
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to influence without direct authority.

    Nice to have

    • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) or equivalent data-querying tools.

The hot takeJeff's read on Gitlab

GitLab has put more effort into their employee marketing and policies than 99.99% of the companies we've researched over the years. Seriously, their handbook is absolutely massive.

The ONLY thing that throws me off about them is an unclear statement about their stance on what "work from anywhere" actually means. They say:

"All-remote means that each individual in an organization is empowered to work and live where they are most fulfilled."

But they also say that hey need to have an entity in your home country in order to be hired, so I'd love to know if they have a list of the countries they will hire from.
