About the role
The Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF) is the world's largest online design and AI education platform, with over 1,150,000 enrollments since 2002. We are a movement dedicated to making high-quality design and AI education accessible to everyone, everywhere, holding the trust of industry giants like Adobe, NASA, and IBM.
As a Course Director, you will decide what hundreds of thousands of designers learn next. You will collaborate with industry leaders—including Don Norman and experts from Netflix, Meta, and Adobe—to transform their expertise into world-class courses and Master Classes that help designers thrive in the age of AI.
What you'll do
- Lead what is taught and who teaches IxDF courses and Master Classes.
- Reach out to industry leaders and global experts to secure their participation in educational programs.
- Research topic areas to ensure unique content and identify where design and AI are heading.
- Plan, structure, and shoot courses in professional studios alongside Education Designers and video teams.
- Pressure-test course outlines, providing constructive feedback on what is missing or needs improvement.
- Act as the guardian of the quality bar, ensuring every course is better than existing alternatives.
- Help decide how AI should be integrated for course participants, such as personalized learning paths and automated feedback.
- Produce approximately three Master Classes per month, managing the process from initial invitation to publication.
- Analyze learner feedback and completion rates to incrementally improve and update published materials.
- Maintain crystal-clear internal documentation to support the editorial and growth teams.
What they're looking for
- At least 10 years of hands-on design experience.
- A professional network among respected designers and comfort in reaching out to industry leaders.
- Deep understanding of what the design community needs to learn and what is currently relevant in the field.
- Proven ability to show something you have built or led, such as a product, design team, or course.
- Ability to translate complex design practices into step-by-step learning sequences.
- Strong social intelligence, empathy, and the ability to engage with diverse, high-achieving individuals.
- A practical idealist mindset, capable of achieving results through both incremental wins and large-scale projects.
