About the role
We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Foundations & Enablement team, where you’ll help build and evolve the tools, pipelines, and test environments that make testing faster, more reliable, and easier for every team, while also testing product features.
You’ll join our dynamic and growing Product Engineering team at Storyblok, playing an instrumental role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our flagship CMS platform. Foundations & Enablement is a platform team with QAs and developers as its customers.
You’ll work closely with QA, software, and DevOps engineers to maintain and improve a reusable ecosystem of tools, pipelines, and components that engineers use every day. You’ll split your time between improving that foundation and contributing directly to feature quality.
What you'll do
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Docker-based test environments, including writing and updating Dockerfiles and Docker Compose setups.
- Identify improvement opportunities in current tooling and contribute to the team’s roadmap with QA leadership, engineering managers, and DevOps.
- Maintain and improve GitHub Actions workflows that run test suites, focusing on reliability and execution time.
- Help shape how we validate releases of containerized deployments across configurations and version combinations.
- Test product features by participating in kick-offs, performing manual and exploratory testing, and writing automated tests.
- Document, track, and verify defects.
- Gather feedback from QAs and developers on internal tools to iterate, communicate changes, and drive adoption.
- Improve test suite reliability by identifying, tracking, and fixing flaky tests.
- Make test data self-contained and API-seeded to ensure suites work against freshly provisioned environments.
What they're looking for
- Comfortable working with Docker and containerized environments.
- Experience maintaining and improving GitHub Actions workflows.
- Ability to write and update Dockerfiles and Docker Compose setups.
- Experience in manual, exploratory, and automated testing.
- Ability to identify gaps and opportunities in existing tooling and infrastructure.

The hot takeJeff's read on Storyblok
I love that Storyblok immediately leans into an employee-first narrative rather than telling you what they expect of you, before you've even applied. I also love that they understand (how most companies don't get this I will never understand) that WFA policies opens them up to a much bigger talent pool:
"Being fully-remote means we can hire the best talent – and top-notch people – from across the world. We’re a diverse team spread across more than 45 countries, united by a love of furry animals and a belief in certain values (see below). You can rely on your colleagues here. And learn from them. Heck, you might end up calling some of them friends."
They seem to mention pizza quite a bit...which I don't quite get. Maybe it's an inside joke with employees.
