About the role
As a Cloud Platform Engineer at Supabase, you’ll join Cloud Engineering, part of Engineering Operations, and shape the foundations that let engineering teams build, ship, and operate infrastructure safely and independently across AWS and GCP.
This is a role spanning cloud governance, platform engineering, and hands-on operations. You’ll work across account structure, identity and access management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), reusable platform primitives, security boundaries, and self-service workflows.
Supabase was born-remote and open-source-first. We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship, supporting the open-source ecosystem while building tools developers love.
What you'll do
- Designing and implementing cloud governance across AWS and GCP, including identity, account organization, access controls, and guardrails.
- Building reusable infrastructure and building blocks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Creating self-service capabilities that reduce organizational friction for engineers.
- Owning resource governance and visibility, including management tagging, inventory, and cross-account billing data.
- Developing reusable security primitives such as secrets storage, KMS, certificate management, and mTLS.
- Owning cloud-level network and operational primitives like IP address management, DNS, and quota alerting.
- Combining software engineering with hands-on operations: building, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Establishing and sharing cloud engineering best practices through documentation and internal tooling.
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in cloud governance, platform engineering, and/or operations.
- Experience operating production systems at scale and carrying on-call responsibilities.
- Previous experience with significant migrations, such as rearchitecting AWS account topology or centralizing identity/SSO.
- Deep expertise in Tooling & ecosystem (AWS/GCP), Software engineering (Go, Rust, or similar), or Operations.
- Comfortable treating infrastructure as software with relevant experience in IaC and automation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and thrive in async, globally distributed teams.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating toward better systems over time.
Nice to have
- Experience collaborating with auditors on meeting compliance requirements.
- Experience producing written artifacts such as RFCs.
