New Remote Company Crush Thursday - SumSub
Read this beautiful line from Sumsub that I just added to the Beach Commute Atlas this morning, and tell me what you think:
"Trust over control. We hire smart people and let them shine. No micromanaging, no games—just trust, ownership, and great work."
THIS. This is the way running a company is supposed to look!
How many micromanagers have you had to deal with?
How many bosses second-guessing your work?
How many times have you felt like you're just punching a time clock?
Not. At. Sumsub.

Keep reading, I have PLENTY more I like about them. There's a lot of meat on this bone.
🧘♀️ Flexibility and trust wins mega points
Look, you're a PROFESSIONAL hired to do a job.
You should be treated LIKE AND ADULT, not a child running with scissors...
Like how most companies treat you. In your cubicle. Under Costco lighting. With salmon cooking in the microwave 🐟
Here's how Sumsub feels about trusting you, their future employee:
"True flexibility. We do not fix you to a 9-to-5 schedule. You can adjust your working hours when needed, as long as your day stays productive and in sync with the team."
Can I get an amen from the backseats, please?
And to really seal the deal, check out this quote I snagged from their careers page:

Get hired. Be trusted to do your job. Get paid. Simple, right?
Not for most companies.
🤗 Culture is why you will stay
It's usually a pretty good signal when companies devote their careers pages to coming across as human, empathetic, and employee-focused...
Instead of "we work hard and play hard, and believe in accountability and working harder than the competition" 🤮
It's also interesting to see which imagery a company chooses to convey their culture...Sumsub seems to LOVE pets...

Sure, companies can write whatever they want on these pages...but it's a strong indicator, especially when paired with good Glassdoor reviews.
💬 Employee reviews
Look...it's tough for a large company (1,040 employees) to maintain a high Glassdoor score without stuffing the ballot.
Averages always come down.
But the recent reviews are all strong, and seem pretty real:

Pretty much backs up what we read on their careers page.
🏝️ Remote work policy
It's not a PERFECT work-from-anywhere statement, and thus requires a little explanation. They have three statements, which all basically amount to the same thing. Here's one:
"Remote-first, trust-based culture. Work from the place that works best for you. No mandatory office days, no attendance trackers. In some locations, we provide offices or coworking spaces, but the choice is yours."
Doesn't seem like a problem, right? They also say:
"Remote-first and future-ready. Work where you're happiest and most productive—your schedule, your choice, your rules."
Typically this means that your location isn't super important, but in my findings, it also means you may need to prove that you deserve the right to work while you travel.
Important note! You'll notice some job listings have locations attached to them!

See that? Confusing, right? Let me explain how you should interpret these, and what to do.
- It probably means they want someone working in that timezone. It just makes it easier if it's a specific working hour overlap.
- They may want someone within that geographical pay scale.
- You should target any of the listings that say "multiple locations" if you are not geographically located where it asks.
Sound good?
👀 What should you watch out for?
I don't know how friendly they are with moving around as a digital nomad while working. Ask when you interview.
Keep an eye out for geographical specific roles.
💼 What roles are currently up?
There are currently a few jobs that let you work from anywhere (marked those with timezone requirements):
Customer Success Manager (US timezones!)
Product Manager (American timezones!)
Don't see a role that works for you? Don't @me! Just save the company in the Beach Commute Atlas and revisit it often. Use this time to build a relationship with the company!
🌐 The Atlas could get you a remote job faster!
How could you get hired faster using the Atlas?
- We know they are remote: Each company goes through this human, nerdy process to make sure they are actually remote.
- We choose for you: Companies can't post what they want here, so there's not reposted slop or fake jobs.
- You're linked to the original listing: When you apply directly at the original listings (rather than job boards), you have a 4x hire rate.
It's the only remote job center designed for job seekers instead of companies.

Hopefully launching in the next week or two...
