The new year is here...how's your remote job search going?

We asked that exact question in our newsletter last week and saw hundreds of variations of the response below:

I am qualified for tons of jobs yet all have been rejected. I even paid for a course on how to market myself and redid my resume which was over $1,500 that I didn't have.

    Sound familiar?!

    Here's the good news:

    It's not a YOU problem.

    Here's the bad news:

It's a broken systemic problem and you have to deal with it.

    Here's what you're up against...

👉 50% of job listings on job boards are fake.

👉 Only 10% of job applications actually make it to a human.

👉 Most applications get auto-rejected by AI for reasons you would never think of.

👉 900 applications are submitted on LinkedIn every minute

👉 80% of jobs are not publicly published - they're on the "hidden job market."

If you're applying the same way as everyone, you're invisible. Full stop.

How to make your job application stand out

On Tuesday the 13th at 6:30pm EST we're going to tell in a 60 minute training session.

    Save my spot!

    Here are the deets...

    1. It's free
    2. It's run by my business partner who has been a career coach for 10+ years.

    Here's what you'll learn...

✅ Why you rarely hear back from job applications (even if you fit all the qualifications)

✅ The 3 steps of her technique that can land you interviews in weeks (not months or years)

✅ A clear, step‑by‑step approach to land a fully remote job that works in the market today

If you're applying for remote jobs right now, you need to join this call!

I'll see ya there! In the meantime, check out the remote jobs of the week below!

    🌶️ Hot take

Oooooh there is so much here that I like! For starters, we have a 4.1 Glassdoor score with 100+ reviews - a great starting point. They have a solid remote work policy, and a lot of language and perks that I look for in a company, including the following, which warms my heart:

"Low meeting culture. Give us the data-driven recommendation on Slack over the meeting and multi slide deck."

    And how about this beauty?

🏥 Medical coverage: "Full health coverage. Find flexible plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards."

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

PostHog is a product analytics platform that lets you track how people use your website or app without sending data to third parties. It combines tools like event tracking, session recording, feature flags, and A/B testing all in one place, so you can understand user behavior and improve your product.

    🌶️ Hot take

Posthog has one of the quirkiest, and wildly detailed careers page I've ever seen. Seriously, take a look. Also, I've never seen a "You will hate working here if..." section on a careers page.

But here is the shining pinnacle of the company:
But here is the shining pinnacle of the company:

Can I get an "amen" from the back row, please? This is a company that seems to understand how to measure and value its employees. And check out the in-person retreats they do:

Alright, I'm almost done...here's a few more solid perks: A 25 day minimum PTO per year, free books, training budget, health benefits, and equity in the company. I like it. Here’s some stuff I like:

    Unlimited vacation (with a minimum!):

“You're required to take at least 25 days off per year. (If you don't, you will be locked out of Slack. Just kidding.) This doesn't come out of your sick leave or generous parental leave.”

    Here's some other highlights:

"We believe in work without borders. Whether you want to work at home with your family or travel the world and work along the way, we’re here to support your choices. Our team is in 88 countries and counting."

If you want to become a digital nomad, work. here. If you want to work and travel (like I do), definitely come work here. 🌶️ Hot take

Chili Piper is the perfect embodiment of what we look for in a WFA company. (And my company even used them in the past, and they were awesome!) Jump on these roles, it's a great place to work. Note: Some specialized roles need to be done within specific timezones - this is normal, even WFA companies have special roles that need to be done in a specific time zone. Spring Health

    Healthcare · 1,000+ · Est. 2016 · Company page on the Atlas ↗

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Spring Health believes everyone deserves access to high-quality mental healthcare. They assist businesses in updating their mental health benefits. Their program serves as a centralized gateway for various care options including digital activities, EAP services, coaching, therapy, and comprehensive medication.

    🌶️ Hot take

Heads up on Spring Health: Glassdoor reviews are still stabilized at 3.1, if it drops below 3 I am going to drop them from this newsletter until the number improves. This is at the very bottom my threshold for promoting companies, so if it slips again I'll likely nix them from newsletters until it rises. While this number doesn't mean everything to me, it is an indicator. Here are some things I do like:

🏥 Medical: "Health, Dental, Vision benefits start on your first day at Spring."

👶🏾 Parental: "Access to fertility care"

💵 Transparent salaries: Fortunately you know exactly what your salary range will be.

🚨 Vague remote policy alert. I'm confident that the remote roles listed are indeed remote, but I'm not confident that they will let you work from anywhere. I'd love to get some clarification from the company. Also note that many roles are hybrid, in-person, or location-based. I've selected a few that do not list specific geographies.

    Lumos

    IT Services · 101-1,000 · Est. 2020 · Company page on the Atlas ↗

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Lumos excels in making IT operations smoother. IT and Security teams worldwide use Lumos to decrease technology spending, optimize access management processes, and strengthen their security posture. And the big guys love them - companies like GitHub, MongoDB, and Major League Baseball use Lumos to manage software, access, and vendors in one place.

    🌶️ Hot take

I like A LOT about what I see from Lumos, including their 4.7 Glassdoor rating, full medical benefits, wellness stipends, and $1k annual learning and development stipends.

The only thing (in my mind) that keeps Lumos from moving into the top tier of work-from-anywhere companies is their +/- 4 hour PST timezone restriction. That covers a lot of territory, but would limit digital nomads to only travel in the Americas. It's not clear whether or not you have to be physically located within the +/- 4 hour window, or if they will let you work those hours from anywhere.

Still, that amounts to 8 timezones. Here's some highlights:

🏋🏾 Health and wellness: $100 bucks a month for health and wellness spend.

👶🏾 Parental leave: Up to 4 months of it.

📚 Learning budget: $1,000 bucks a year on learning and development spend.

🌴 Unlimited PTO: But make sure you actually use it!

Clutch helps credit unions modernize by providing fintech-tools that make borrowing more accessible, intuitive, and enjoyable. They partner with credit unions to equip them with technologies like digital account and loan opening so that these “member-first” institutions can evolve into leading fintech innovators.

    🌶️ Hot take

Clutch was a reader suggestion (one of many!), and they're a good one. They've got good employee reviews, a work-from-anywhere policy, and some really good perks and benefits. I wouldn't mind seeing the careers page get built out a little more - some testimonials, a transparent hiring process, etc. But overall they're doing a nice job. Here's some things I like:

🏝️ Unforgettable Off-Sites: "Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas."

If I see another company that has more than 90% of its career page content that talks about the company mission rather than prospective employees, I'm flat out dropping them from our database. Listen, do THIS:

Why does that work? Because they are prioritizing outcomes rather than worthless things like location, looking "busy", and keeping employees happy. Say it with me: Offices don't generate more revenue, it makes old schoolers happy because they have no idea how a business is meant to operate.

I am not a recruiter nor am not affiliated with any of the companies listed above. I currently cannot help you get hired with one of these specific companies for a role listed, or give you a recommendation. Note: "Hire from anywhere" is not the same as "Work from anywhere." Some companies are not able to hire employees from anywhere, but this does not mean they are not a "work from anywhere" company.
