48 Hot remote job opportunities & why remote work Is the future (and why you should care)
(🔥 Hot job listings at the bottom)
Y’all know I’m a die-hard fan of the fully remote lifestyle. I’ll fight anyone who argues on behalf of cubicle superiority —and trust me, I will happily die on that hill! 😂
I’ve lived both lives—working in a soul-sucking cubicle farms, and now working from wherever I want in the world.
Spoiler alert: working from wherever I want has been objectively better for me. No contest.
I'm more focused.
I'm more productive.
I can work the hours I want.
But mostly, I'm happier with life.
If I need a break, I take one. If I need some exercise, I go for a run. If I want to spend more time with friends and family, I do.
And I still get more work done than I ever have in an office.
Now I want the whole world to start singing the same tune. It’s the dragon I need to slay!
But, here’s the thing—when you’re super passionate about something, it’s easy to have your blinders on.
Sometimes you need someone with deep, objective knowledge to reel you in and give you a fresh perspective.
This week, I had the chance to talk to Wayne Turmel, the guy who literally wrote the book on managing remote teams. Actually, make that two books.

I LOVED this discussion...but that's because I'm a nerd about creating fully remote team structures where employees can work wherever the F they want...
But not everyone is a nerd about the politics of the thing.
Here’s why this conversation matters for you
The decisions major C-suite execs are going to be making about RTO/remote work policies over the next 6-12 months can potentially shape the next few years of relationships between employees and employers.
They're watching what Amazon, Whole Foods, Dell and Ubisoft are doing, and monitoring the results (and backlash) of their RTO policies.
Whole Foods CEO said:
“Our goal here is not to make this seem like this is a stick. We want to help create and work with our team members (in) having the carrot and getting the excitement about bringing back the culture and ultimately the interactions that we once had in our offices across the company.”
I don't know how he is going to convince grown adult professionals that "office culture" should be exciting and outweigh the benefits working from home, but I'm VERY eager to hear what he comes up with.
But the important thing is that the results of decisions on where employees work at top organizations may influence similar decisions made by much smaller companies. Amazon may be the canary in the coal mine.
But who knows for sure?
Wayne Turmel adds history and deep expertise to the conversation to help understand how we got to the status of remote work as it stands now, and where we will likely go based on past and present indicators.
Importantly for me, he also gave some perspective from the employers' side of the table. He also walked me through some of the instances where remote work doesn't make sense for certain employees.
Here's some of the topics we covered:
- 📕 How We Got Here: We delved into the history of remote work to predict where it’s headed. The evolution of remote work might just give you a clue about what’s next and how companies will respond.
- 👹 Bosses Are Scrambling to Adapt: We discussed how companies are wrestling with how to structure remote work in a way that’s beneficial for everyone. Some are getting it right, while others... not so much.
- 🫠 Burnout and re-evaluating Priorities: With burnout from both working in office and at home (workers who can't manage to close their laptops), people are rethinking what they truly value. Is it money and prestige, or freedom, travel, and relationships? The answer is reshaping what work will look like in the future.
