A new Fortune article reporting on a new scientific study said:

"a four-year study by the University of South Australia has confirmed what employees long suspected: they thrive when allowed to work from home. While not without its challenges, the data strongly suggests that remote work greatly improves work-life balance."

    It also said:

"Not only do those who log on from their couch save hours (and cash) by skipping the commute, they’re able to channel that time into things that actually matter. Many use that reclaimed time to invest in their health, whether it’s a gym session, a long walk, or simply unwinding with a creative hobby. Others put it toward family, from shared meals to bedtime stories, while some welcome the chance to stay on top of household responsibilities instead of cramming them into the weekend.

Another notable change was in eating habits. Not having to carry a soggy sandwich from the house to the office, or fork out for an overpriced meal deal, the study found that remote workers are also more likely to eat more fruit and vegetables, as well as more homemade meals. But perhaps most striking of all, remote workers gain an extra 30 minutes of rest per night."

So there ya go, Amazon, JPMC, Dell, and the rest of y'all!

    Bolt (Stackblitz)

    New company alert!

    🔎 What they do

Imagine a world where web development becomes a piece of cake, thanks to StackBlitz. This nifty tool shakes things up by making teamwork between frontend and design system crews a breeze. Say goodbye to the headache of setting up local environments - with StackBlitz, you can write, run, and debug your frontend code right in your browser. It's like having your coding playground right at your fingertips!

    🌶️ Hot take

Here's a first for me when looking at a Bolt job description:

    • You do not need a college degree to apply
    • You do not need to be located in the U.S. — we’re remote-friendly
    • You do not need to meet every qualification listed above

I do have some questions about their remote work policy, which doesn't explicitly say you can work from anywhere. There are certain roles that require time zone overlap, which usually implies your location doesn't matter, but I would love to see some more clarity. Here's a few perks.

🔌 Tech stipend: "Internet reimbursement. Working from home shouldn’t mean paying extra to stay connected. We’ll help with that."

🏋🏻 Health & Wellness: "Reimbursed fitness classes, therapy, or anything that helps you feel your best."

📚 Learning Stipend: "Learning & Development stipend to grow your skills"

🏥 Health Coverage: "100% paid coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees"

    🏝️ Remote work policy

Fully remote. Company policy: "Work-from-home policy to allow team members to live where they choose"

    Clutch

    New company alert!

    🔎 What they do

Clutch helps credit unions modernize by providing fintech-tools that make borrowing more accessible, intuitive, and enjoyable. They partner with credit unions to equip them with technologies like digital account and loan opening so that these “member-first” institutions can evolve into leading fintech innovators.

    🌶️ Hot take

A few readers recommended that I throw Clutch in the newsletter, so I gave them a look this week, and they were right. They've got good employee reviews, a work-from-anywhere policy, and some really good perks and benefits. I wouldn't mind seeing the careers page get built out a little more - some testimonials, a transparent hiring process, etc. But overall they're doing a nice job. Here's some things I like:

🔌 Tech stipend: "Home Office Setup Budget"

🏝️ Unforgettable Off-Sites: "Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas."

📈 Stock Options: "Joining us means having a stake in our success, so you'll receive stock options as part of your compensation package."

🏥 Health Coverage: "Prioritize your well-being with comprehensive health and dental insurance plans."

    📊 BeachScore

Clutch gets a 79% on the Anywhere Atlas, putting them in the top 30% of fully-remote companies.

    🏝️ Remote work policy

Work from anywhere. Company policy: "Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere, balancing life and career seamlessly."

DuckDuckGo, a free browser for mobile and desktop, prioritizes privacy with its private search, tracker blocker, and independence as a company since 2008. Their goal is to provide easy privacy solutions to all users.

    🌶️ Hot take

DuckDuckGo has the only perfect score in our database, and is THE prototype for what we look for in a work-from-anywhere company. Well, not JUST a WFA company, but ANY company. Here's the core tenets we look for:

    • Clear prioritization of working from anywhere as a business model.
    • Clear expression of trust and empowerment for employees.
    • Understanding that output > location or hours.
    • Transparent perk package.
    • Transparent salary offering per role.
    • Emphasis of employees over mission statement.

DuckDuckGo nails each of these things I look for.

Any time you see a role posted, APPLY. Don't question it, just apply. Highlights:

🌍 Hire-from-anywhere: DuckDuckGo will hire prospective employees from anywhere

    🌶️ Hot take

The new opening line on their careers page states: "Work with us from wherever you like. Explore the remote job opportunities at Automattic. Work from anywhere, and make the web a better place for everyone, everywhere."

I mean, c'mon. I told you I was already in, you don't have to sell me more. Oh you know very well that I'm a sucker for company who values output over location and hours, and here I am again, blushing with happiness. From Automattic's website:

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Storyblok's headless CMS empowers developers to enable seamless content management and delivery, allowing for faster development and dynamic, personalized experiences. They lead brands such as Adidas, Tesla, and Oatly.

    🌶️ Hot take

I love that Storyblok immediately leans into an employee-first narrative rather than telling you what they expect of you, before you've even applied. I also love that they understand (how most companies don't get this I will never understand) that WFA policies opens them up to a much bigger talent pool:

"Being fully-remote means we can hire the best talent – and top-notch people – from across the world. We’re a diverse team spread across more than 45 countries, united by a love of furry animals and a belief in certain values (see below). You can rely on your colleagues here. And learn from them. Heck, you might end up calling some of them friends."

They seem to mention pizza quite a bit...which I don't quite get. Maybe it's an inside joke with employees.

Here's a few things I love about their perks & benefits:

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Love chess? Chess.com is the place for you. With over 150 million members, it's the top chess platform! Members can engage in free games, tournaments, and boost their skills through lessons and videos by esteemed Grandmasters.

    🌶️ Hot take

Have you ever played chess online? I certainly haven't, but many many people do. So many that Chess.com has built out a team of 800+ employees to support the demand! They have a VERY simple careers page, but it feels more genuine and personable than 95% of the pages I've run into. Everything about this statement feels good:

"We're always looking for great people to join the team. All of our jobs are 100% remote. We have a healthy work environment focused on well-being, respect, and memes/emotes. We communicate with Slack and positive energy beams.
If you love chess as much as we do, maybe this is your chance to work and do your hobby at the same time!? We have several positions we are looking to fill."

I'd love to see more details about the perks they offer employees - a lack of visibility here is really the only detail driving their score lower.

✔︎ Hire-from-anywhere alert! Chess.com will hire prospective employees from anywhere.

    🌶️ Hot take

They're a really small company, but I often see a lot of benefits to that. Generally, you'll find more work flexibility, strong remote work structures, and lots. of autonomous work. The downside is that I rarely have a lot of information to go off of, other than what I see on their sites. This is one of those cases. That said, I see quite a few green flags.

    ClipBoard Health

    Software Dev · 1,000+ · Est. 2016 · Company page on the Atlas ↗

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Clipboard Health utilizes technology to assist nursing facilities (such as SNFs, senior care centers, and hospitals) in ensuring they have the right nurse in the right place at the right time. With a presence in numerous locations across the nation, Clipboard Health is a graduate of the Y Combinator incubator.

    🌶️ Hot take

Here's what I DO like about CH...They have positively-trending Glassdoor reviews, several employee testimonials, unlimited PTO, and lots of jobs that hire from anywhere.

Here's what I DON'T like about CH...They are missing a huge opportunity for stronger employee marketing. Their careers page has a lengthy explanation about what they expect of prospective candidates - how to be and what to do. There's literally 12 panels that explain what they want from you...instead of talking about what they can do for their employees.

It sets the tone the wrong way right out of the gate. I would much rather see them take an employee-first mentality rather than dumping a laundry list of expectations on people who haven't even applied yet.

They could immensely improve their talent attraction by clearly explaining why THEY should work for YOU, a clear remote work policy, and a detailed list of perks and benefits.

    Filmless

    🔎 What they do

Filmless is a full-service video production company and animation studio that collaborates with leading global brands like Google, Amazon, and Apple to create high-quality content, including promotional videos, TV commercials, and animated explainers. With a network of over 500 creatives across 160+ cities worldwide, Filmless offers end-to-end production services supported by a proprietary digital workflow, enabling clients to manage projects efficiently and scale their video campaigns globally.

    🌶️ Hot take

Filmless is a bit harder to review, as all roles are contract (1099). This is a good thing, and a challenging thing. It's a good thing because as a contractor, you're usually able to enjoy as much WFA freedom as you could possibly ask for. Most companies who hire contractors are able to hire from anywhere, and let their employees work from anywhere.

On the flipside, the tradeoff is that benefits are usually completely on you. You cover your own medical, equipment costs, etc. For all intents and purposes, you are an independent contractor rather than an employee. As such, there is less inherent security.

Filmless has not yet been reviewed. I don't know that I will put them on the Atlas, as talent is almost exclusively hired out under contract.

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

Bounteous is a digital consulting company that helps businesses improve online experiences through strategy, design, analytics, and technology. They work with brands to build websites, digital products, and data-driven marketing solutions that drive growth and customer engagement.

    🌶️ Hot take

Bounteous is another consideration for addition to regular newsletter inclusion and the Anywhere Atlas, but I don't yet have enough clarity on their WFA policy. They certainly are fully remote, but it's not quite clear whether or not they let employees work wherever they want. If a rep could reach out with clarification, I would be happy to add them to both

Their website says "work from anywhere", but it may imply that you can work from anywhere within your region. Here's their statement:

"When you join our team, you are immersed in a vibrant and supportive community that respects and adopts diverse perspectives that meaningfully transform our company and clients. You're encouraged to work where you want and thrive with our supportive programs and offerings."

Again, need more information, and take that into consideration.

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas

GameTime is your top spot for snagging last-minute tickets to the best sports, music, and theater events across the U.S. and Canada. They're all about creating unforgettable shared experiences, and their passion fuels the tech that brings people together in real life.

    🌶️ Hot take

I'm considering Gametime for regular inclusion in the newsletter, but I'm not 100% clear on their WFA policy. They have a bit of a vague, "remote friendly" policy that doesn't fully clarify any potential limitations. That said, they ARE fully remote, have a decent perk package, and acceptable Glassdoor reviews. Here's a few features:

🏝️ Unlimited PTO: "Take what you need' vacation policy (we actually mean it!)"

👶🏾 Paid Parental Leave: Peace of mind for parents to dedicate their time to the care of their new child

🏥 Healthcare: "Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents"

🔌 Tech stipend: "Monthly stipend to offset the cost of internet and any home office updates"
