51 hidden remote jobs hiring this week
So I just now realized that I spent 8 hours on last week's newsletter, and labeled the title "September 2nd" and the post "September 16th."
And wondered why no one read it. WOW JEFF! And it was like, my best newsletter ever. Terrible, terrible feeling.
Anyways, Here's the Remote Weekly Top 3 that you missed over the past week 👇
The Top 3 you missed this week
Top 7 ways to increase your chance of hearing back 🎲
Job seekers hate it when I tell them this, but spray-and-pray does. not. work. Don't fight me on this! I have six years of receipts and thousands of data points on what works. You CAN improve your odds.
Don't fight me, I have years of receipts.
~70% of companies use employee monitoring software 👀
Someone mentioned this number in the comments of one of my posts, and I thought they were out of their minds. Nope, it's true. These increasingly sophisticated tools can screenshot your monitor, track app usage, control your video camera and track keystrokes. Here's what you said you would do if you found out your company was implementing software:

And if they wanted to put it on my computer, hahahahhahahhaahaha. Shaddup.
Applicants being pitched products while applying 😎
One of my readers was pitched a company product as part of the application process. Reading between the lines (not exactly subtle), it seems that the company was using a pay-to-apply technique. Gross.

Unfortunately, this is more common than I thought. Here's one I found on Reddit recently:
Absolutely, positively NOT.
Getting hired ✅
So you know how to increase your odds at this point. Apply at the source, pick small companies, get in early, get referrals. I would recommend you use our personal job matcher tool.
Why? I hand-picked and reviewed each of these companies, they tend to be smaller organizations, the jobs link directly to the careers page listing, and you'll be a better fit for jobs that match your skills and experience. (And it doesn't cost anything.)
You want to gain an edge in every step of the process. It adds up, and over enough applications, you'll get better results.
Lastly, nominate a remote company (it can be your own company) that you think deserves a BeachScore. If it scores 75% or higher, I’ll give you a free Beach Commute Atlas subscription for 3 months. Drop it in the comments.
With that, let's get to the remote jobs of the week 👇

Empower is a financial technology company that provides various financial services aimed at improving the financial well-being of its users. They're like the financial fairy godmother, swooping in to boost anyone's money game.

How do you feel about a "low meeting culture"? Let me answer for you...it's FANTASTIC. Meetings do not equal productivity!
"Low meeting culture. Give us the data-driven recommendation on Slack over the meeting and multi slide deck."
Can I get an amen from the back rows, please?
They have a solid remote work policy, and a lot of language and perks that I look for in a company, including the following:

🏥 Medical coverage: "Full health coverage. Find flexible plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards."
🏝️ Paid Retreats: "Paid global onsites. Magic happens IRL: we gather twice a year to reconnect over a shared meal or a kayaking adventure."
🔌 Tech stipend: "Home office subsidy. You're funded to get the gear you need to do your best work."
⏰ Async work style: "We work in teams, but we work asynchronously. You know what you need to do and when it needs to be done."

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas
WorkMotion is breaking geographical barriers with their global HR platform, enabling seamless international hiring and onboarding. They are on a mission to create a world where anyone can work from anywhere, fostering global collaboration and innovation.
🌶️ Hot take
Update: Sep 30, 2026: There's been a trend of neutral-to-negative reviews on Glassdoor over the past few months, bringing them down to 3.8.
WorkMotion leans HEAVILY on their hiring and working from anywhere policies. To lift a statement from their careers page: "By emphasizing talent over location, we've assembled a global team that values flexibility and relies on trust." This is the way of the future employee-employer relationships.
Let me just add one more line that I absolutely love from their careers page:
"Trust based work. Organise your own schedule - we celebrate results, not hours spent working." Can I get an amen from the back, please?!
Here’s some of the things I like:
💪 Gym membership: Get access to subsidized gym membership or sports club subscriptions.
😎 Flexible working: Make your own schedule and plan your work around your personal life. There are no in and out times.
💻 Asynchronous communication: Organise your own schedule. We celebrate results, not hours spent working.

Update Sep 30th, 2026: They are just a hair away from being a top tier Remote GOAT in the Beach Commute Atlas. The careers page is chalked-full of autonomy, trust and empowerment language. I LOVE it. They have a fantastic remote work policy, and a careers page that I adore. And they constantly have job openings in fields you request.
The only think keeping them from elite status, is sparse peer reviews, and potentially unpublished perks and benny packages. With a bit more clarity, they would shoot up.
Can I get a quick amen from the back of the room for this statement?

Can we not just implement this way of thinking across every C-suite exec across all of business? It's. So. Obvious. Thank you, Adapty, you make me happy and you make this newsletter easy to write. You keep doing you. Make sure to take a look at their memo on what work life looks like at Adapty. I particularly like this quote from the company:
"We’re a remote-first company and embrace global hiring without any geographical restrictions. Our employees can work from anywhere and have the flexibility to move around the world while working with us. Our work environment is asynchronous, allowing team members to maintain a healthy work-life balance."
But also try to get me a few more Glassdoor reviews so that I can give you a peer score! I'd also love to see a list of the perks you offer employees.

I'm digging them so hard, uber ultra 🐐🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas
Sumsub is an identity verification, KYC/AML, transaction monitoring, and fraud-prevention platform that helps businesses verify users and companies while staying compliant.
🌶️ Hot take
I even wrote a Remote GOAT crush piece for them. There is SO much to like about this company, starting with the very first line on their careers page: "Trust over control. We hire smart people and let them shine. No micromanaging, no games—just trust, ownership, and great work."
This is EVERYTHING that you look for in a company. They are all about output over attendance, they don't micromanage, they have strong Glassdoor reviews, and a MOSTLY clear remote work policy.
📊 BeachScore Live
Sumsub gets a solid 81% on the Beach Commute Atlas. With a slightly clearer remote work policy we would be golden.

🏝️ Remote work policy
"Remote-first, trust-based culture. Work from the place that works best for you. No mandatory office days, no attendance trackers. In some locations, we provide offices or coworking spaces, but the choice is yours. "Remote-first and future-ready. Work where you're happiest and most productive—your schedule, your choice, your rules." "Hubs in 8 cities, plus coworking spaces worldwide. Visit often (or never), or drop by when you need a change of scene."

🔎 What they do
Timescale (TigerData) is tackling one of the biggest challenges (and opportunities) in databases for the foreseeable future: helping developers, businesses, and society make sense of the vast amounts of data generated by humans and their machines. TimescaleDB stands out as the only open-source time-series database that natively supports full SQL. It combines the power, reliability, and user-friendliness of a relational database with the scalability often found in NoSQL systems.

Update Sep 30, 2026: The careers page still isn't particularly inspiring. A lot of companies feel the need to post platitudes that say nothing new or interesting. It's a "we want good employees" filler:

It doesn't do any damage, but also nobody reads it, because it has zero personalty, and doesn't tell you anything about working at the company.
What actually works is having an opinion on how companies believe in managing employees. Statements like "We trust our employees because we hire very well. We don't care about hours and attendance, we care about putting you in the best position possible to feel empowered to product." Stuff like that.
But you can't base your opinions on JUST one thing. They have excellent glassdoor reviews and a strong remote work policy.
Here's a few things I like from their job listings and careers page:
😎 Flexible hours
📚 Education benefits
📈 Stock options
🚨 Keep in mind, many roles are geo-specific, so read carefully for the WFA roles!
📊 BeachScore
Very solid indeed...
🏝️ Remote work policy
Fully-remote, but lacks clarity on WFA and travel policies. Company policy: "100% remote. We have people from all over the world with diverse backgrounds contributing to our fun-loving culture."

Update Sep 30, 2026: They're one of the first companies we added to the Beach Commute Atlas years ago. And for good reason. Look how they open their careers page:

They immediately drop your guard by dropping the empty work-hard corporate jargon. This FEELS human. Very human.
They have a clear remote work policy, strong Glassdoor reviews, transparent salaries, and a good perks & bennies package. This is a REALLY good remote company hiding in plain sight. The only criticism I have is that sometimes job listings go stale. Keep an eye on them.

Foundation gets an 80% on the Beach Commute Atlas, putting them in the top 20% of fully-remote companies.

🔎 What they do Live from the Atlas
Bounteous is a digital consulting company that helps businesses improve online experiences through strategy, design, analytics, and technology. They work with brands to build websites, digital products, and data-driven marketing solutions that drive growth and customer engagement.
🌶️ Hot take
Sep 30, 2026: Glassdoor reviews have settled in at 3.0 over the past couple months. As always, don't put all your stock in this, but don't ignore it either.
Also, there is a new remote work policy that doesn't say "work from anywhere" anymore.
"Choose to work from home, work at the office, or go hybrid. Coordinate with clients and teams across time zones to support your personal preferences."
I'm gonna keep a close eye on things, but proceed with caution.
Transparent hiring process: They have a published interview process published here.
I do have a complaint that there isn't readily available information about their perks and benefits offered (likely because they are different across employee geographies). That said, I'd love to see some transparency in that regard.
📊 BeachScore Live
Bounteous gets a 60% on the Beach Commute Atlas. Bounteous could dramatically increase their score by publishing perks and benefits and increasing their Glassdoor score.
